Neil Moodie - My Story

I began hairdressing in 1984 and my first 10 years of hairdressing were in the salon. In 1993 I made the transition into editorial session work. My first shoot was on The Face magazine, where I worked with a renowned photographer Corinne Day. Shortly after, I was booked on my first shoot for Italian Vogue, followed by an advertising campaign for Miu Miu.

Throughout my career, I have worked with renowned photographers including Paulo Roversi, Mario Testino and Juergen Teller, celebrities - Drew Barrymore, Natalie Portman, Scarlett Johannsen and Demi Moore, and designers - Burberry, Armani, Calvin Klein, Gucci, Vivienne Westwood, Hugo Boss, Just Cavalli, La Perla, Margaret Howell, Nathen Jenden, VPL and Lacoste.

I love to experiment with textures and mix contemporary, graphic elements with classic fundamentals. One of the greatest aspects about editorial hairstyling is having the freedom to experiment and create by breaking some of the fundamental rules, whether this is through the unconventional use of products or hair styling techniques.

In my 30 plus years of hairdressing, I've gained a wealth of knowledge not only about hair, but also the beauty industry itself. I've had the pleasure and honor to work alongside and collaborate with some of the biggest fashion and beauty pioneers. For a total of 12 years, I have worked under contract for two high-end haircare brands as a freelancer. This introduced me to the process of product development and eventually sparked off my interest into the possibilities of creating a bespoke product line.

I have been the Creative Director for the Windle & Moodie salon for many years, bringing my editorial experience into the salon and inspiring the Windle & Moodie hairdressers. In 2008, I collaborated with Paul Windle on a range of professional haircare tools WAM, which has been a tremendous success. Most recently, I joined Paul in creating a collection of truly unique and innovative haircare products that accommodate everybody, whether it be clients in the salon or models on a shoot or in a fashion show. Together with Paul, I am hugely excited to introduce our long-in-the-making products to the world.
